STEAM Whistle Workshops

HIGH SCHOOL SESSIONS

 
STEAM Whistle Workshops are online summer programs to engage middle and high school students in their love for (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) from the comfort of their homes. These week-long specialty programs will allow your student to participate in exciting STEAM projects and learning. Each week, your high schooler will experience sessions filled with live instruction, self-paced project work, and team-building activities.​

Seth Bonder Data Science Program

Date: July 6 – July 10, 2020

Program Times: 9AM-12PM Instruction. 2PM-4PM Individual Projects. Monday through Friday

Cost: $125

The Seth Bonder Summer Program is intended for high school students interested in engineering who have no or minimal background in data science and computer programming. Please note that this program hours are from 9AM-12PM for self-paced instruction and 2PM-4PM for individual project time with instructors for the entire week. The basics of programming will be taught within the data science field.

Materials:

*Laptop or Computer, (windows, mac, or chromebook), internet access, and headphones, paper, pen/pencil.

*Paper, Pencils/pens

 

 

Mobile APP and Game

Date: July 6- July 10, 2020

Program Times: 9:00AM-3:30PM Monday through Friday. *parent presentation on Friday at 2:30PM

Cost: $150

Interested in creating mobile apps and games? This fun-filled week for students teaches the basics of App/Game creation for a variety of mobile (iOS and Android) and computer platforms (Mac, Windows, Linux) using the free visual development environment Construct 3.

Materials:

*Laptop or Computer, (windows, mac, or chromebook), internet access, and headphones.

*Paper, Pencils/pens

 

 

Masters of Science

Date: July 20 – July 24, 2020

Program Times: 9:00AM - 11:00AM. Monday through Friday.

Cost: $225

Masters of Science is an exciting week of daily hands-on STEM activities delivered to your door, featuring live guided instruction and enough equipment to create your own personal STEM lab at home. This course takes place Monday, July 20 - Friday, July 24 from 9 a.m. - 11am for guided instruction and afternoon are self-paced for grades 9th - 12th. Participants will learn about physics, chemistry, electromagnetism, and art with daily exciting activities. All registered participants will be mailed a supplies box with materials for the week.

Materials:

IMPORTANT: Masters of Science Kits will be mailed directly to participants prior the start of the workshop. Please take shipping and delivery times including possible delays in account when registering.

Into the Storm:  Analysis and Forecasting of Hazardous Weather

Date: July 20 – July 24, 2020

Program Times: Monday through Friday. 10AM-2PM

Cost: $125

Ever wanted to be a meteorologist or storm researcher? Been caught in severe weather and wondered what caused it? In this one-week program, students will explore the physics behind the formation of hazardous and severe weather events in our atmosphere.

This will include learning how to analyze surface weather maps, weather balloon launch data, radar and satellite data, and other relevant meteorological information. Students will also work on a mini-research topic, investigating an extreme weather event of interest.

Materials Needed:

Laptop (windows, mac, or chromebook), internet access, paper, pencil/pen, headphones (optional).
